Lately I have started working on a drawing for a tarot card. This one is going to feature Kasha, from my comic series, Green Corner. (edit: this was going to be part of a collaborative tarot project, but I am no longer participating)
I haven't drawn many standalone images of Kasha, but here is an old one.
Kasha is a celebrity within the world of Green Corner, famous for winning the Elven Championships two years in a row. The Elven Championships are prmarily an athletic competition, with a variety of events. Placing high in multiple events gives the competitor a greater chance of winning a title of "Queen" or "King" (with points assigned based on ranking in each event). The female with the highest points after all events earns "Queen" while "King" goes to the male with the highest points. The championships start at high school age, and Kasha is also seen as rather remarkable because she competes with others who are a year older than herself (she skipped a grade in school) and has always ranked highly.
I'm considering making the digital final of this tarot card into a tutorial, but right now I'm only at sketching stage. I will probably share a black and white version here when it's ready, before the final piece. Progress images will likely be posted to my beta readers for Green Corner first, then later shared on my art blog. I try to limit in-progress pieces in my DA gallery, but I'll be sure to link to my art blogposts showing the progress work for those interested.
I'm still working on finishing up the latest comic page too. I'm just working on a bunch of things at once, so it might take a little while before it's up.
As far as wedding collateral pieces go, I'm going to start cross-posting more of those here, to promote individual pieces and sets in my Zazzle shop. I have been working on a promotional flyer that is pretty much done now, I just need to make some minor adjustments for it to be distributed in different areas. I am also going to get started on a promotional brochure for wedding collateral design services, because those are better for distribution at places like hotels. The flyers are more for boards where space is limited for take-aways. I'm still trying to find a way to have contact information on a take-away piece for the flyer option, since I don't want to depend on people writing the info down. It's best to make it easy for people to get in touch with me for these services, after all!
If you're interested in seeing some of the pieces I've created already, you can see them here: eventdesign.emilygonsalves.com.
and the template designs are here: in my Zazzle shop.
The thank you cards are the easiest type of item to customize with your own text for other purposes, but if something else works for you, please go ahead and enjoy as you see fit! Custom wedding collateral (or other special event collateral) services generally run $50 hourly, but I would consult with you based on your needs and provide an estimate before starting work. Don't be afraid to contact me remotely. I am happy to talk to you over the phone and/or on Skype if meeting in person is not feasible. I have also done cards and programs for other purposes, so feel free to contact me for anything custom.

Oh, Hello
I took a bit of a hiatus (unintentionally), but I am back and will be checking in weekly again. Maybe I will even submit some new artwork.
As you may know, I run the Pretty Heroes & Toronto Sailor Moon Celebration convention. This year was more ambitious than before and while we solved a lot of issues that popped up, there were still more (there are always some things you can't fix immediately). We had some challenges with our expansion to two days, so we will be looking at how to adjust and improve for next year, but it's clear that many attendees still had a wonderful time and would like to see the event continue. Our event this year w
It's Been a While...
I haven't written anything here in quite a long time, so I guess I'm overdue for an update!
I have been busy since last summer with not only convention planning (I ran the second Toronto Sailor Moon Celebration successfully with really awesome growth in attendance!) but also familial obligations.
My aunt fell ill suddenly last June (she is fine now), which had me a bit distracted in the last bit of convention planning so there were small issues that popped up as a result. The convention did go very well and I'm so happy that many people enjoyed it. We had an attendance of approximately 650 people (which is an over 300% increase of our first
International Sailor Moon Day - Toronto
I'm one of the organizers for International Sailor Moon Day in Toronto.
Since we've seen a lot of interest in Toronto, we are doing two events. Abby Green will be hosting a picnic on Toronto Island, and I (Emily Gonsalves) will be hosting a special event at the Ontario Science Centre.
Details about the events are on our Facebook event page.
For the Science Centre special event, I am currently looking into options for a voice actor guest (to be announced once I have it confirmed) and I am accepting applications for artists who would like to exhibit. If you are interested in getting artist space, it will be $50 for a full table and $25 for a
Thanks for the Daily Deviation!
What a nice surprise for me to find today that I've received a Daily Deviation on My Creating Comics with Illustrator Tutorial! I'm still working on thanking everyone who faves it individually. Don't worry, if you don't have a message yet, it's coming.
Special thanks to kangel for suggesting my tutorial and Fantasystock for featuring.
I've got to say I really wasn't expecting to have my tutorial that I first published in mid-2008 to be getting so much attention now. It had been promoted previously on Vectortuts+, and a while later I wrote and published a second long form tutorial on Vectortuts+ called How To Create a Fantasy Character in Il
